Dr Janaka Tennakoon

Dr Janaka Tennakoon is a highly qualified and dedicated paediatrician who has extensive experience in general paediatrics, with special interest areas in Neonatology, neurodevelopmental and behavioural disorders. He is qualified to perform Autism Spectrum Disorder assessments (ADOS and 3di). Dr Tennakoon has conducted diabetic and endocrinology clinics in Bendigo and Mildura over the past 10 years, and has experience in insulin pump management.
He is committed to providing Specialist Paediatric care in country and rural areas, having worked in Bendigo and contributed to outreach services in Swan Hill. Currently Dr Tennakoon is employed as a Staff Specialist and is establishing Dr Janaka Tennakoon Paediatric Clinic with a focus on telehealth.
Dr Tennakoon strives to further advance his own professional development and contribute to the medical community. He has been involved in quality assurance and clinical governance and continues to teach and mentor Medical Students, Junior Doctors and other health staff regularly. He supervises OTP (Overseas trained physician) Peer review consultants in Mildura, is involved in the RACP OTP sub-committee, and represents the college in the National Specialist IMG (International Medical Graduate) Committee. Dr Tennakoon is also currently working towards achieving Associate Fellowship of RACMA (Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators) and is studying a Masters in Health Administration.

My mission is to provide family centred paediatrician consultations to Australian children and families with minimal waiting times and a focus on consumer participation in health care delivery.
